A length of brightly coloured cotton, about an inch wide, 6 ft long.
It may either worn as a gymslip sash tied loosely, with knot (like that for a necktie) on the left hip.
Or perhaps diagonally from the shoulder to the waist over a T shirt or polo shirt when taking part in team games to distinguish one team from another.
The exact knot, and whether it is an just an acceptable alternative to a self-colour belt, or a mandatory one, will depend on the rules and customs of the school.
At Muir Academy is is an alternative and not compulsory, though favoured.
